  • Overwhelmed by all the New York theatre choices?

Here are some frequently asked questions about New York theatre:

What New York shows are currently running? There are usually 40+ New York shows opened or opening on Broadway in the next months; we try to keep an up-to-date listing on our website.  We can help you narrow down the New York theatre options and make specific recommendations to maximize your Broadway enjoyment.

What New York shows have tickets available while I’m there? These days, everything is available, even if it’s sold out…it just matters how much you are willing to pay for that particular New York show.

Do all New York shows on Broadway have similar schedules?
Yes and no. New York theatre and Broadway almost always play 8 performances per week…but during any given week, the schedules could be different. As well, some productions are dark on Monday evenings, while other shows have two performances on Sunday. This can prove very confusing to some who are unfamiliar with Broadway. Most evening performances have 8PM curtain times, with 2PM matinees; but his is not true for a handful of very popular Broadway shows.

How much does a theatre ticket cost to a current Broadway show? You start off with the price on the face of the ticket (with additional handling fees and taxes). Some longer running New York shows offer discounts off this face price (20% to 50%); other hot Broadway shows increase the price of the best seats (premium seating) for the most popular performance times. We can help you make the best decisions for your New York theatre trip.

What about New York City Hotels? For lots of reasons, we recommend finding a quality New York hotel that fits your needs and is located in the New York theatre district or nearby. It cuts down on dealing with NYC traffic, you have an overwhelming number of choices with nearby restaurants, and most importantly, these establishments are very familiar with getting people to and from the theatre in a timely manner. We do provide a few 'other' choices for those who would rather walk and explore other NYC neighborhoods.

What airport is best to find in and out of?
New York has three major airports: LaGuardia and Kennedy in Queens, NY and Newark Airport across the Hudson River in NJ. There are also two intermediate-sized airports in Islip, Long Island and White Plains, NY that are served by many major airlines. We can consult on the best option for you.

How do I get around New York City? Taxis are everywhere and plentiful…but they are hard to catch when it’s raining or just before the theatre (another reason to dine in the New York theatre district). For those who are a little adventurous, the subway is inexpensive, cleaner than it used to be, and quick. Keep in mind, NYC is a city of walkers…it can be a highlight of your trip (depending on weather and season) to walk from midtown to the Upper West Side or Chinatown through Soho and Tribeca.

What New York restaurants are ‘theatre-going’ friendly? Most restaurants in the New York City theatre district are quite aware of your curtain time; that is why we have lists of excellent places to dine covering a variety of cuisines and price levels. If you have an evening without theatre scheduled, we also recommend other dining opportunities in other NYC neighborhoods.

Ground Transportation to and from the airport? Taxis, limousines, buses, and shuttles: which are the most dependable? We’ve got all the information to assist you in making the best decision. Often it depends on your arrival time, how quickly you want to get from the airport to your hotel, and your budget.

New York City Shopping Opportunities? New York City offers the most expensive items and boutiques in the world, as well as, a bargain hunters paradise. We can provide you with all the information on the best shopping destinations for your visit.

Please, don’t continue to be intimated…
