Shopping

In many ways, New York City is one big shopping opportunity.  No matter what the budget may be, you'll find plenty of variety of apparel, electronics, food, jewelry, international goods, sporting goods, cosmetics, antiques, and housewares.  Walk in any direction from your hotel and you are sure to find a shopping opportunity.  Here are some highlights:

Diamond District
Located on 47th Street between 5th and 6th Aves., you'll find door to door to door jewelry shops.  You can look at the windows, but you must go in to see the real stuff; these are the guys that distribute their diamonds throughout the country.  If you like to negotiate the price of large stones, here's your nirvana.

Macy's
Located in Herald Square (34th Street & Broadway), Macy's is the largest department store in the world.  If you are looking for a particular brand of something, in a particular size or color, Macy's is likely to have it in stock.  A true, NYC shopping experience.

5th Ave Shopping
World renown shops populate the avenue…this is a window-shoppers wonderland.  Come see American Girl (at 49th); Bergdorf Goodman (at 58th); Fortunoff (54th); Cartier (52nd); H & M (at 51st); Henri Bendel (at 55th); Lord & Taylor (at 38th); FAO Schwartz (at 58th); Saks (at 49th); Harry Winston (at 56th); Tiffany's (at 57th); and Gucci (at 54th).

Madison Ave Shopping
If you didn't find it on 5th, it's probably on Madison Ave.  Here's a brief summary: Baney's New York (at 61st); Prada (at 70th); Brooks Brothers (at 44th); Calvin Klein (at 60th); Vera Wang (at 77th); Chanel (at 57th); Dolce and Gabbana (at 58th); Moshino (at 67th); Aveda (at 53th); Body Shop (at 52nd); Crabtree and Evelyn (at 93rd); and Sharper Image (at 72nd).

Upper East Side/Bloomingdale's
Come see a favorite New York Department store; located over at 3rd Avenue and 59th Street, it's a bit away from the rest, but quite the NYC shopping experience.

Canal Street Shopping/Lower East Side/Orchard Street District
This is the home of the 'knock-off'.  Located near 6th Ave. and Canal Street, lower east side (usually the home of immigrant populations) shopping has always been a bargain hunters paradise.  From watches, jewelry, sunglasses, to apparel, belts and purses—you will ask constantly ask yourself, 'can I tell a difference?'
